Designed to make your plant-care easier

Quenching your plant's thirst is an art form. But fear not, we're here to help! Our potting soil ensures your soil stays just right, neither too dry nor too wet.

The structure and components of our potting soil hold onto the perfect amount of water for your plants. Less watering worries, more plant pampering!

Full of microbial life

Our soil is bioactive and teeming with microbial life thanks to fresh worm castings.

It can be home to helpful critters like springtails, isopods, and the predatory mite "Macrocheles robustulus" – what awe-inspiring name! Springtails and isopods help convert decomposed matter into nutrients without interfering with the plants. The predatory mites specialize in attacking the eggs, larvae, and pupae of fungus gnats, thrips, and fruit flies. So, it's like having your own personal defense line!

While the soil is being cleared of adult worms, the eggs can still hatch in the soil. WORMS IN MY SOIL? YES! That's a good sign! It signifies incredibly fresh worm castings. Earthworms feast on decaying plant matter, keeping the soil airy and producing fresh nutrients. They also regulate their own population (along with springtails, isopods, and predatory mites). So, once there's no more decaying matter, they'll gradually disappear.

Our commitment to responsible production.

At Sybotanica we not only want to make plants happy, but people happy as well. In our production team we exclusively hire people with a distance from the workforce, and help them rehabilitate to the normal working life.

Take Peter for example:

Peter has been with Sybotanica since the 1st hour, and has now been promoted to head of production & a permanent contract! Where he was the first employee, he now manages a team of 3 production workers.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that Peter achieved all this with only 10% visibility! 🕶️ With a few minor adjustments to his working environment, Peter is able to perform his job 100%.

Peter has now been through two moves and knows all the ins & outs of Sybotanica. He can even feel by the potting soil which variety it is. That's quite a challenge with 16 different mixes!

We are confident that Peter will keep production running smoothly in the coming years too! 💪

We don't think peat is so neat!

It becomes too compact over time, leading to a state where it no longer absorbs water.

That's why we opt for coconut fiber and worm castings, keeping your potting soil delightfully airy and usable for much longer. Much more environmentally friendly in its use & less CO2!

Houseplant Soil That Works Like Nature Intended

Great houseplant soil doesn’t just hold your plant in place—it recreates its natural home. That’s exactly what SYBASoil from Sybotanica is designed to do. Each of our houseplant soil mixes is handcrafted to mimic the native environments of specific plant families. Whether your plant thrives in dense tropical undergrowth or dry forest floors, our formulas offer the ideal mix of airflow, moisture, and structure. This natural mimicry leads to healthier roots, fewer symptoms of stress, and thriving plants. Even better, our soil is designed to make your life easier too—with moisture retention tailored to each plant type, watering becomes less of a guessing game. You’ll even feel more comfortable going on vacation, knowing your plants are supported by smart hydration and a soil structure that reduces watering errors. Plus, good structure isn’t just about water—it’s also your first line of defense against pests. That’s the SYBASoil difference: houseplant soil that’s smart, sustainable, and plant-specific.

Why the Right Houseplant Soil Changes Everything

Mimics the Natural Habitat of Your Plants

Each plant has evolved to grow in a very specific type of earth—so why give them one-size-fits-all soil? At Sybotanica, we create SYBASoil blends that are designed to recreate the conditions of your plant’s native habitat. Our houseplant soil balances organic matter, aeration, and moisture levels to match the environment your plant naturally thrives in. This means fewer issues with overwatering, wilting, or root rot. Instead of fighting against their environment, your plants feel at home—leading to better growth, stronger roots, and brighter foliage. It’s plant care that feels like nature intended.

Vacation-Proof Your Plant Routine

One of the biggest stress points for plant parents? Leaving your collection behind when you travel. Our carefully calibrated soil formulas help extend hydration, so you can go longer between waterings without harming your plants. Whether you’re gone for a weekend or a full week, our houseplant soil keeps roots moist—not soggy—thanks to premium materials like coconut coir potting mix that hold just the right amount of water. Even more importantly, the structure makes it harder to over- or underwater. That means less guesswork, less guilt, and way more peace of mind while you’re away.

The Smart Structure That Prevents Pests

Healthy Soil, Healthier Plants, Fewer Gnats

Most indoor plant pests don’t start with the plant—they start with the soil. Poorly aerated or overly moist soil becomes a breeding ground for fungus gnats, mold, and even root-feeding larvae. That’s why SYBASoil is engineered to stay airy and balanced. The structure allows water to drain while still holding enough for steady root access, keeping conditions too dry for pests to thrive. You’ll also notice fewer odors, less surface mold, and an overall cleaner environment for your plants. This makes SYBASoil the perfect soil for indoor plants, especially for those prone to overwatering and pest problems.

Eco-Friendly Potting Soil Made with Purpose

Every batch of our eco-friendly potting soil is made with intention—both for your plant’s health and the planet’s. We use only sustainable materials like coconut coir, and we hand-blend everything in our own Netherlands-based social workplace. That means no peat, no fillers, and no outsourced mystery mixes. Just clean, plant-specific soil you can trust, backed by years of research and the vision of Sybotanica’s founder, Sybren. With SYBASoil, your houseplants get more than just soil—they get a custom-crafted foundation that promotes growth, prevents problems, and fits your lifestyle perfectly.

Frequently asked questions

Not sure which mix is right for your plant?

What if my plant is not doing well after using the soil?

We guarantee a 100% satisfaction! Our mission is to help you get happy plants.

If for some reason we fail to do this, just contact us or return your items hassle-free within 30 days.

Not convinced? Check out our Trustpilot reviews.

How much soil do I need?

Check out this pot volume calculator tool to calculate how much Hoya Mix you need.

What are the SYBASoil mixes made of? How can I make my own mixes at home?

On each SYBASoil mix page in the description is a section 'Ingrediënts & recipe', there you can find what any mix contains and how to mix it yourself!

Why is the soil shipped moist?

Our soils are packaged and shipped slightly wet. This is to help ensure the quality of the mix. Most of our soil components need to be slightly wet to maintain their quality.

A good example is our worm castings. Worm castings need to remain slightly wet to ensure all the beneficial soil microfauna stay alive. These microfauna help ensure happy and healthy plants!

When do I need to re-feed the soil?

The nutrients in SYBASoil will run out in ~6 months on average.

Check out our fertiliser line SYBASupport.

How long does SYBASoil stay fresh?

You can store SYBASoil for about 2 years. Make sure to store it cool, dark and closed off.

The effectiveness of the nutrients can degrade over the years. Simply add some fresh worm castings to give the soil new life.

How to recycle SYBASoil packaging?

Our packaging can be recycled at your local plastic recycling facility.

You can also re-use it for storage, or leave a little soil and use it as a propagation box!

Do I need to sterilise SYBASoils?

No, this is something we don't do and generally don't recommend, since most our soil mixes contain worm castings, these provide many beneficial microfauna we like in our soils!

When the soil is sterilized these beneficial microfauna would die. These microfauna ensure healthy and happy plants.

Should I add anything to SYBASoil?

Unless you use the Base Mix, you don't need to add anything. You can always experiment to see what works best for your plant and specific situation!

SYBASoil has 180 days of fertiliser, after that you can try our SYBASupport range.
